Acuario - O GROVE

Aquarium O Grove was reopened last Easter 2011. Among its main objectives is to be a reference of such centers in Galicia, and the main center of interpretation of the Rias Baixas, with the main mission to contribute actively the conservation of the marine environment and its biodiversity. To do this they must meet three main objectives: conservation, education and research.

Aquarium currently has some 100 different species and about 1,000 individuals spread over its 28 tanks, being the largest oceanarium with 250,000 liters (where the larger species such as the bull shark, Carcharinus taurus, amberjack, dumereli yellowtail, smoothhounds, asterias Mustelus, etc.) and the smallest with about 500 liters, where the eggs dogfish, Scyliorhinus canicula, and ray, Raja sp., along with a baby dogfish shark.

In the Aquarium of O Grove they are represented marine ecosystems that can be found in the Rias Baixas, such as the rocky subtidal sandy subtidal, community marshes, coastal cliffs, marine protected areas: National Park of the Atlantic Islands, fishing grounds, without forget something so characteristic of our estuaries such as punts of mussels, or gold farms, haddock, etc.

Aquarium facilities include O Grove area recovery of marine animals, conference and exhibitions, education classroom.

Opening hours: · 1 JULY - 31 AUGUST. Monday to Sunday from 10:30 to 21:30 h. · 1 SEPTEMBER - 15 OCTOBER, 1 APRIL - 30 JUNE. Monday to Friday: 10:30 to 14:00 and 15:30 to 19:00 h. Saturday and Sunday: 10:00 to 20:00 h. · 16 OCTOBER - MARCH 30. Saturday, Sunday, holidays and long weekends from 10:00 to 14:00 and 15:30 to 18:30 h.
